Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur

Full-time

Lead

About the role

The Network Engineer Lead oversees the full lifecycle of network infrastructure across development, UAT, production, and cloud environments. This includes architecture design, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement.

You will lead a team of Network Engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, and performance guidance. The role partners closely with Security, Cloud, Application, Infrastructure, and Compliance teams to ensure network operations meet high availability, security, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Network Architecture & Strategy
  • Define and enhance network architecture across data centres, WAN, LAN, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Conduct R&D on emerging tools, technologies, and approaches to improve performance and reliability.
  • Drive automation improvements using network automation and IaC tools such as Terraform.

Implementation & Operations
  • Manage and maintain corporate, development, UAT, and production networks—including ISPs, firewalls, switches, routing, and VPN connectivity.
  • Perform configuration of firewalls (NAT, routing, port access), switches (VLANs, LAG, ACLs), and network devices.
  • Execute vulnerability management: firmware upgrades, patching, and remediation.
  • Lead cabling activities: laying, crimping, testing, tracing.
  • Oversee midnight/weekend maintenance windows and high-severity incident handling.

Troubleshooting & Monitoring
  • Lead diagnostics for packet loss, timeout, routing issues, and connectivity failures.
  • Use tools such as ping, telnet, traceroute, nslookup/dig, tcpdump, and Wireshark.
  • Implement and refine SNMP monitoring and alerting to support rapid incident response.

Security, Compliance & Audits
  • Ensure adherence to PCI-DSS, PCI-3DS, PCI-PIN, ISO27001, ISO9001, SOC-2, BNM RMiT, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Coordinate and prepare audit evidence for compliance, certifications, and due diligence.
  • Support implementation of DNS, reverse proxy, Anti-DDoS, and secure network controls.

Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop Network Engineers to deliver high-quality operational results.
  • Set objectives, monitor performance, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
  • Promote operational discipline: documentation, SOPs, change control, and post-incident reviews.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Application, Cloud, Security, Operations, and Compliance teams to ensure seamless network connectivity.
  • Participate in BCP and DR exercises, ensuring network readiness and redundancy.
  • Support deployment and go-live activities for internal and customer-facing systems.

Diploma or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Networking, or related fields.

CCNA or higher certification required (e.g., CCNP).

Additional certifications in network, cloud, or security are advantageous.

Experience

At least 5 years in computer networking, with proven experience in enterprise environments.

Hands-on experience with switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, routing protocols, and network automation.

Experience leading network projects or teams is highly advantageous.

Strong troubleshooting record across LAN/WAN, data centre, and cloud environments.

Technical Skills

Network design, architecture, automation, and troubleshooting

IP addressing, VLAN, routing protocols, NAT, IPSec VPN, SNMP
